I’ve always been an avid follower of celebrity style, after all where they lead, others follow so as a hair stylist you need to be on top of the latest A list trends. Over the past few years there have been a few stand out moments in the world of celebrity hair, so I thought I’d share my top 10 most shocking moments with you all!
Demi Moore Shaving Her Head
Back in 1997, Demi Moore had long shiny dark hair much like she has now, but in a shock move she shaved her head on the set of G.I Jane in a scene where she is trying to prove she’s tough enough to make it as a navy seal. It’s still a talked about shocking hair moment today – much more talked about that the film itself, which was a flop.
Brad Pitt’s Long Style
Brad Pitt has been widely considered one of the most desirable male celebrities on the planet and in the days of being married to Jennifer Aniston he was a classic looking sun-kissed guy. Fast forward to the crumbling of the marriage seamlessly timed with his blossoming relationship with Angelina Jolie and as if by magic, his image had changed completely. What was once a clean cut blonde gent had turned into a rather hippy looking guy with long hair and big bushy beard to boot. It was a transformation some loved and others hated, helping to perpetuate the “Team Aniston” and “Team Jolie” rivalry.
Justin Timberlake Abandoning his Trademark Curls
In the days of ‘N SYNC, Justin was famed for his tight blonde curls, so when he embarked on his solo career he clearly felt it was time to update his image. The trademark curls were no more and Timberlake emerged with an edgy new look, featuring a shaved head. Needless to say, Justin quickly became a household name and made it to the top of many people’s wish lists!
Britney Spears Shaving her Own Head
In a bizarre move, it seemed back in 2007 Britney Spears was at breaking point. She walked into a hair salon and began to shave her own head with electric clippers. A stint in rehab coupled with little time out of the limelight, Britney came back fighting and seemingly put those turbulent experiences behind her.
Emma Watson’s Short Do’
Emma Watson was thrust into stardom at an early age after being cast as Hermione in the Harry Potter films. She spent her early teens sporting variations of long curly hair for the role so when filming ceased it’s no surprise she wanted a change. Watson appeared with a short pixie crop and began modelling for Burberry to help shake of the Harry Potter image, which worked a treat!
Pamela Anderson Chops Off Signature Blonde Locks
Think of Pamela Anderson and you think of red swimsuit and long blonde hair. The red swimsuit may have been hung up years ago, but until recently Pamela was clinging to her signature hairstyle so it was surprising to see her step out with a short crop at the end of last year.
Jennifer Aniston’s Bob
Women all over the world have been obsessed with “The Aniston” since the early 90s. Having sported long hair for a couple of series of Friends, viewers were shocked to see a sharp and short bob mid-way through series 7. Many loved the look but clearly not Aniston herself as the bob was on the way out by series 8!
Beyonce’s Pixie Crop
Beyonce is famed for having long curly hair full of volume, so last year we were all taken aback when she debuted a sleek pixie crop last summer. We saw it for a week or so and then as if by magic, her hair had “grown” into a long bob.
Jude Law’s Hair Loss
A heartthrob of the late 90s and early 00s and then branded a loverat after numerous infidelity rumours emerged, Jude Law went from having it all to have very little – especially in the hair department. The hair loss seemed to come on rapidly, as did the number of women claiming to have been involved with Mr Law at times when he should have been a one-woman-man!
Wayne Rooney’s Hair Transplant
Wayne Rooney’s decision to have a hair transplant was met with jibes from the media and his fellow team mates, which had questionable results. The procedure reportedly cost in the region of £30,000 and it was later rumoured he had undergone a second procedure as he wasn’t happy with the result of the first.
