Barrie Blogs – Blonde vs. BrunetteLeave a Comment
Do blondes really have more fun? Are brunettes really smarter? Of course not it’s all tosh, but it’s fun to speculate!
The past few years have seen some dramatic colour changes from celebs, including Jennifer Lawrence, who went brunette in order to play the unglamorous Katniss Everdeen in the Hunger Games. But did it suit her? We say yes, but she stands out so much more on the red carpet when she has her natural blonde locks!
Anne Hathaway, who had her hair cut off completely for her role in Les Mis (turned out to be a good move, she got an Oscar for her troubles!), decided to go platinum blonde for the MET Gala in New York earlier this year, and of course she looked stunning with a vampy dress and smoky eyes! But it turned out to be a one-time thing â she went straight back to her trademark brunette locks a week later.
Reports say that more natural blondes are dying their hair a darker shade in order to look more professional at the office, proving that the dumb blonde stereotype is still rife! Transforming the colour of your hair is a big step, and if you get it wrong it can look like a disaster! Going blonde or brunette is a delicate balance of getting the correct depth and tone of colour and matching that to your skin tone. Unless you’re a goth, bottle black hair is not going to look great next to porcelain skin, as classic blonde Charlize Theron proved a few years ago with a rather austere looking dye job.
Whether you choose to be blonde or brunette (or a redhead!) is a personal choice, but I always remind my clients to keep in mind that changing your colour requires a lot of maintenance, blonde in particular takes dedication! It could also ruin the condition of the hair if you keep on bleaching it and don’t use the right care, so making sure you get regular professional hair care is a must!
Some ladies just seem to be born with the wrong natural hair colour. It’s amazing to think both Katy Perry and Zooey Deschanel are both natural blondes, but both suit lovely dark locks!
It doesn’t matter if you’re blonde or brunette, natural or dyed, what matters is being radiant on the inside and making sure your hair shines healthily with you!
