frizzy hair
When hot and humid weather hits there are so many things to love but the havoc it wreaks on our hair certainly isn’t one of them! I wanted to share my guide to battling frizz for all those who struggle to keep hair calm and frizz free at this time of year.

First things First: What Causes Frizz?

Frizz is caused by the cuticle of the hair shaft not closing down correctly, this can be caused for numerous reasons such as external aggressions like heat or chemical damage, wear and tear on the hair or even blow-drying the hair shaft in the wrong direction.

Frizzy hair can be a nightmare but with the following easy steps to smooth glossy locks, you’ll be able to banish frizz!

Use the Right Products

Using the correct products for your hair type and condition is a vital key to smooth glossy hair.

Normally frizz is due to a lack of moisture within the hair or damage to the cuticle to which needs strengthening. Key products for the above would be a hydration product such as Kerastase Bain Nutri Thermique & Fondant Nutri-Thermique, as for strength I would recommend Eufora UrgentRepair Cleanse & UrgentRepair Treatment.

Anti-frizz & anti humidity serums or sprays are an essential product for banishing frizz from day to day, apply one of these products to hair at the drying stage to seal and smooth the cuticle. I would recommend KMS TameFrizz oil or cream.

My Quick Fire Tips for Fighting Frizz

1) Use an intense treatment once a week
2) Blow-dry your hair in a downwards action to smooth the cuticle flat
3) Use the correct products for your hair type
4) Have a colour gloss to smooth and add shine to your hair

Kerastraight blow-dry will keep your hair frizz free for up to 4 months and will reduce the frizz by 90% as well as reducing your blow-drying time, this will making your hair virtually frizz free.

Embrace Your Natural Hair Type

When in hotter climates embrace your natural hair type in the following ways;

Curly hair – add a curl defining product and leave to dry naturally to minimise frizz

Wear a low ponytail to the side at the nape of your neck or wear your hair-up with soft movement or curls as this will add a fullness – very chic & St Tropez!
