This week saw the glittering annual event take place in London’s Berkeley Square Gardens. The evening saw Dame Helen Mirren scoop the Glamour Icon award, Davina McCall pick up a (very well deserved) Glamour Hero award for her phenomenal Sport Relief effort and Alex Chung take the Glamour Women of the Year Entrepreneur award.
The bash was awash with celebrities making bold fashion statements – some getting it right and some missing the mark. Without further ado, here’s my rundown of the best and worst from the night.
Best Dressed – Paloma Faith
Paloma is famed for her outlandish style choices, which is why I was surprised to see her in something a little more demure than her usual outfits. The dramatic black couture gown by Nicholas Oakwell is the perfect mix of quirky and classic. What I loved about this fashion choice is that because we weren’t spending time working out an unusual fashion choice, we were actually drawn to her flawless hair and makeup. Paloma is a stunning girl and toning the fashion down a little meant we really really noticed it!
Best Hair – Claudia Winkleman
I love Claudia and can’t wait to see her starring alongside Tess Daly in the next series of Strictly later this year. Her hair looks gorgeously thick and glossy; the colour is deep and sultry and the chunky straight cut fringe adds a little edginess to her look. A serious winner for me in the hair department!
Worst Dressed – Laura Whitmore
Laura Whitmore – what were you thinking?! Clearly a beautiful woman but that’s totally overshadowed by this utterly vile dress. Clashing patterns and materials with one arm long and one arm short, there simply isn’t a redeeming factor here. Laura gets my worst dressed by a country mile; a headache in dress form! Don’t get me started on the bizarre shoes…
Worst Hair – Steph Parker from Gogglebox
Steph and Dom from Gogglebox are a couple I would love to spend an evening sipping champagne with! Unfortunately Steph does get my worst hair accolade on this occasion. The roots are in dire need of a touch up, the blonde is brassy and desperately dry at the ends. Steph – you’re welcome in the salon anytime where we’ll get those locks in order followed by a few glasses of champers and a giggle!
Notable Mention – Samuel L Jackson
Few people would dare rock up to an event where the style is being scrutinised as closely as this, but Samuel L Jackson threw caution to the wind and wore this garish get up! On anybody else we’d be questioning the choice, but it’s Samuel L Jackson and he’s cool enough to pull it off. I love that he doesn’t take himself so seriously; the hideous suit gets a thumbs up from me!
