Barrie Blogs – My Trend Forecast for S/S 2014

Firstly, a very happy New Year to you all! I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas break and are sticking to those resolutions!

I wanted to share my trend forecast for the spring/summer of 2014 with you this week; my personal roundup of the hottest looks I’m positive we will be getting a lot of requests for across our salons.

Structured Silhouettes

We’ll see a rise in popularity for the more structured and graphical cuts working with a fusion of classic shapes whether that’s a pixie crop, bob or a longer style.

A sharp clean outline incorporating internal subtle layers (invisible) will be a key technique, so to the eye it looks one length but will softly move. This said it could be worn super sleek with a mirror like finish or with added texture to give width/height.

Healthy, Wearable Hair

The best way to keep hair in the best health is through salon professional products and regular trims throughout the year to keep split ends at bay and ensure your hair has an expert eye cast over it every few weeks through stylist consultations.

A fantastic advocate for wearable hair is Alexa Chung, whose outgrown bob always looks super strong and manageable. The shape highlights structure and the soft layers provide the movement and added texture.

Power Shades

When it comes to colour this spring and summer, it’s all about going strong on the shade you are opting for. Lighter and brighter colours will showcase a much cleaner pallet of tones in 2014. To achieve this look be sure to ask your colourist for clarity and purity whether you are going for a blonde, brunette or red shade.

Light hair will showcase a mother of pearl infused with vanilla milkshake micro lights. Red/copper will be deeper and of the purest tonality (it’s all in the strength of the colour, think damson red or celtic copper). Brunettes will take a rich depth of chestnut or conker, using micro lights of burnt sienna to give added dimension. It’s going to be a fantastic year for striking, beautiful colour.

I can’t wait to see our clients opting for some of these trends in the coming months!
