Keeping hair in great condition between cuts

This extended heat wave has been a fantastic surprise this year hasn’t it? We are all loving the opportunity to experiment with summer styles, coming up with creative ways to keep hair looking fab whilst making sure it’s out of the way! With gorgeous weather often comes sun damage, and whilst taking care of your skin is firmly on the agenda with a high factor sun cream absolutely essential in this heat, we can often forget the sun damage that can happen to our hair too. If you are between cuts and looking for ways to keeps those ends in perfect condition despite the heat, reading the following tips is the best place to start!

Step away from the straighteners

If you are a fan of the super sleek look, the chances are you straighten your hair on a daily basis. In this heat, only those with naturally poker straight hair should be rocking this look. With gorgeous sunny weather, now is the time to embrace those natural waves. We may be in the city, but that’s no reason not to look every inch the beach babe! Ditch the straighteners and instead grab yourself a little texturizing salt spray.

Set the hair dryer to cool

As much as possible, we recommend taking advantage of warm summer evenings by ditching the hair dryer all together and allowing to dry naturally in the evening sun (when the temperature is warm as opposed to frazzling hot!). Of course, this isn’t always practical, especially if you wash your hair in the mornings before heading out to work. When this is the case, make good use of the cool setting as not only will this reduce heat damage, it will also add fantastic shine to your hair, perfect for this weather where the sunlight can bounce off it!

Indulge in a deep conditioning treatment

If your hair appointment is a couple of weeks away, the chances are your hair is in danger of looking dry and split. A deep conditioning treatment can go a long way in keeping hair looking and feeling healthy up until your haircut. We recommend Kerastase Fusio Dose, it is the first made to measure conditioning ritual, based on combinations that are prescribed depending on your own hairs individual requirements and you can pop into any of our salons to pick up this beautiful box of bespoke treatments.

Condition the ends everyday

When your hair is due a cut, it’s advisable to protect the ends as much as possible by conditioning every day. There are plenty of brands offering little hair miracles with every wash, but we find Kerastase Elixir Ultime to be very effective. This versatile beautifying oil for dry hair leaves hair feeling replenished & nourished. It can be used as a pre-cleanse treatment, pre-blowdry, after blowdry, and as a re-touch oil, great to use to fight the frizz throughout the day.

Keeping hair looking healthy and happy between cuts can be difficult, but through regular conditioning and minimal heat you can rest assured you are doing all you can to keep those ends looking as good as they when you first stepped out of the salon!
