Neil’s Takeover: My Experience of London Fashion Week

Hi Guys! It’s Neil here, Barrie has kindly given me centre stage on the blog this week to share my experience of London Fashion Week. After a whirlwind few days at LFW I’m now back in the Anstey salon and thought I’d put pen to paper (well, fingers to keyboard!) to give you the inside scoop.

My celebrity radar was in full swing and I spotted Lily Allen, Rosie from Made in Chelsea and the man with the most famous beard in the world, the beautiful model Ricki Hall.

The experience I’d like to share with you is one of three shows I worked on over the opening and second day, the Bora Asku show.

As I walked into Summerset House courtyard where the BFC show space is held as part of the Autumn/Winter London Fashion Week, I felt this wave of excitement come over me and I was completely struck by just how electric the atmosphere was!

I went backstage to meet the team I’d be working with. Once we had all set up our equipment (we don’t travel light!) we went through a final brief to make sure each and every stylist was on the same page ahead of the models arriving.
With one hour and 30 minutes to go until the first show, the models arrived to get their hair done and off we went! We were stationed next to the makeup team, who in turn are stationed next to the nail team, so you can imagine what a production line it was back there!

Like a finely tuned machine, the hair and makeup team worked together to ensure that the deadline was hit and the models were styled to perfection, ready for the catwalk.

Without further ado, I’d like to share a couple of candid moments behind the scenes with you all; I hope you enjoy looking at the styles as much as I enjoyed creating them.

It was such an honour to represent the Barrie Stephen brand at LFW and I absolutely loved working with Bora Asku. To find out a little more about the designer click here.
