We caught up with Eelize, a designer at our Narborough and King Street salons. She joined the team in January this year, so we wanted to find out a little bit about her career and her favourite things about being a stylist

  1. Hi Eelize! Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Hello! I am a designer at the Narborough and King Street salons. I started working at Barrie Stephen Hair in January 2024.
  1. So, when did you first know you wanted to be a stylist?
I’ve known since a very young age that I have a passion for hair. When I was 15, I did some work experience in a salon, and through doing this I realised that I absolutely love hairdressing.
  1. Tell us a little bit about your career so far!
At the start of my career, I was offered an apprenticeship at the same salon in Milton Keynes that I completed my work experience in. As I was pregnant at the time, I managed to complete my two-year course within nine months! After maternity leave, I worked in a few other salons, which is where I discovered my love for hair ups, working with Afro-Caribbean hair and teaching. A few years later, I decided to venture into the world of becoming self-employed, before eventually joining the team at Barrie Stephen Hair!
  1. What three words describe you best?
I’m a perfectionist, whether it be with colour placement, cutting or styling. I’m also very honest and practical.
  1. If you could tell your clients one thing about yourself, what would you tell them?
I used to play football in a team when I was in secondary school. I loved it a lot!
  1. What is your favourite thing about being a stylist?
I love getting to know each client and building a relationship and I really love giving them a massive smile at the end of each appointment
  1. Are there any types of hair services that you specialise in?
I specialise in working with Afro hair and also hair ups.
  1. How do you want clients to feel when they leave the salon?
It’s really important to me that my clients feel that I’ve listened to and understood what they’ve asked for. Even if we can’t achieve their goal in one session, I want them to feel confident that we have a plan in place. I also really want my clients feel relaxed and pampered during their appointments.
  1. What are your favourite products available from Barrie Stephen Hair, and why?
O&M Frizzy Logic is the most amazing anti-frizz serum I have ever used and smells delicious.
I also love Eufora Urgent Repair Treatment as it smells refreshing and feels amazing on the scalp and hair.
